Kingaroy looks set to get a crackling new festival next August … the inaugural Kingaroy BaconFest.

The festival will focus on everything pork and bacon from August 24-26.

Planning is still in the early stages, but the event is expected to centre around a pork industry conference hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries in Kingaroy Town Hall.

There will also be markets with food stalls featuring pork, a Wine and Swine cocktail party and a regional barbecue competition.

Pork is a mainstay of the South Burnett economy, overtaking peanuts in regional importance.

More information about the event will be released on the organisers’ Facebook page
