Nanango jeweller Darrel Brewerton exchanged marriage vows with his fiancee Gillian Walker on October 21 at St David’s Presbyterian Church in Toowoomba.

The service was performed by Pastor Steve Nixon from the Church of Christ, Kingaroy.

The couple, who met through a mutual friend back in 2013, spent months planning and preparing for their nuptials.

They chose Toowoomba as the venue for their wedding because many of Gillian’s family members live there.

Darrel is the son of long-time Nanango jewellers Peter and Lynda Brewerton and his newly-wed wife the daughter of Glen and Helen Walker, Maleny.

After the ceremony, the couple and 120 guests moved to a reception at the Toowoomba City Golf Club.

Guests had travelled from as far as Tasmania and New Zealand for the couple’s special day.

Great believers in supporting the Queensland economy, Darrel and Gillian spent a two-week honeymoon at Airlie Beach where they took in the sights, relaxed, dined and met some of the locals before returning to work.
