Tuesday’s fortnightly cattle sale at Murgon saw 450 beasts yarded, with all descriptions selling to strong rates.

Heavier cattle were in short supply again, with approximately 120 of the yarding being export types, and the balance made up of mainly weaner age cattle.

Cattle were consigned from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Biggenden, Kingaroy and the Murgon district.

Sale results:

  • Heavy Cows topped at $2.36/kg for $1480
  • The best of the Bullocks sold to $2.78/kg and $1480
  • Cows over 500kg averaged $2.11/kg
  • Cows 400–500kg topped at $2.27/kg, averaging $2.09/kg
  • Lighter Cows sold to $2.00/kg
  • Export Heifers sold to $1150 and $2.79/kg
  • Heavy Bulls sold to $2.59/kg
  • 440kg Simmental steers from D. Louis of Goomeri sold to $2.92/kg and $1290
  • 360kg Droughtmaster steers from D & G Shailer of Goomeri West sold for $1125 at $3.12c/kg
  • 309kg Charbray steers from D & M Hoogstraten of Goomeri sold to $3.39/kg to return $1049
  • Droughtmaster weaner steers from S & T Holding of Cloyna sold for $3.00/kg and $953
  • Brangus weaner steers from R & D Warren of Mondure sold for $940 at $3.47/kg
  • Simmental cross weaner steers from P & A Dingle of Mt Perry sold for $3.57/kg and $769
  • Limousin cross weaner steers from the Steinhardt family of Hivesville sold for $859 at $3.49/kg
  • Local Charbray weaner steers sold for $3.44/kg, returning $700
  • 402kg Droughtmaster heifers from Merlwood sold for $2.79/kg and returned $1122
  • 405kg Droughtmaster heifers from D. Vine of Hivesville also sold for $2.79/kg for $1130
  • 300kg Charbray heifers sold to backgrounders for $881 at $2.92/kg
  • 242kg Limousin cross weaner heifers sold for $764 at $3.15/kg
  • 246kg Limousin cross weaner heifers from Cloyna sold for $770 at $3.12/kg
  • Santa cross weaner heifers from S & J Borninkhof of Cloyna sold for $855 and $3.08/kg
  • 195kg Simmental cross weaner heifers from Mt Perry sold to $2.99/kg, returning $583
  • Santa cross cows and calves sold to $1320

The next Murgon sale will be on Tuesday, November 14 at 8:00am.
