Work on turning this ugly mish-mash of concrete and bitumen footpath strips between Youngman and William Streets, Kingaroy into a continuous concrete footpath will begin next week

November 16, 2017

The South Burnett Regional Council will begin installing a new concrete footpath along the McDonald’s side of Haly Street, Kingaroy next week to replace its “missing links”.

Over the past decade, the Council has forced all businesses which have moved into the area to build a standard footpath in front of their lot whenever it has granted them a development approval.

The end result has created a patchwork of concrete footpath strips interrupted by four bitumen sections in the block between Youngman and William Streets.

Work on filling these in to create a continuous footpath will begin next week.

Council workers will remove the bitumen strips and replace them with concrete.

The end result will be a continuous 1.5m wide footpath, matching one that already exists on the opposite side of the road.

In order to provide a safe work environment, the footpath and parking areas in the immediate work area will be closed, but normal traffic flow should not be affected.

At times, local residents and/or property owners may not be able to access their properties for short periods, but they will be notified of this in advance by the onsite supervisor.

Any residents with concerns during the construction period should contact the onsite supervisor or the Council’s Customer Service Centres on (07) 4189-9100.

One Response to "Missing Links To Be Filled In"

  1. When I saw the story “The Missing Link “. I at first thought that reference was to the dirt centre in William St between Alford and Haly streets complementing the surrounds of the park and allowing for more controlled parking in the name of safety, But! It is asked that council view this “Missing Link ” as well enhancing the improvements and park beauty allowing caravanners and visitors to leave with fond memories of their visit.
