An Australian Futsal Association training camp will be built in Nanango if the owners agree to changes requested by the South Burnett Regional Council.

At Wednesday’s monthly meeting, the SBRC approved an application to build an outdoor futsal pitch and a five bedroom accommodation building at 306 Nanango Brooklands Road.

The proposal had gone through a public notification period in September, and the Council had received three submissions about it.

Officers said the site didn’t comply with the requirements of the Planning Scheme as proposed by the applicant.

However, officers recommended the development be approved by conditioning the site to operate within restricted hours, and not allowing the use of floodlights to illuminate the futsal pitch.

The applicant will also need to build at least a 10 car parking bay and install a 10m wide landscaping buffer strip on the eastern and western sides of the property.

In return, they will be able to run futsal games from 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekends, for a maximum of 30 people at any one time.

These provisions should limit potential negative effects on neighbouring properties to an acceptable level, officers said.

Councillors agreed to issue a development approval for the project providing the approved plans were changed to incorporate the Council’s amendments, and were resubmitted prior to any on-site work starting.
