Toowoomba Regional Council will offer incentives for businesses hoping to establish retirement and residential care facilities across the region.

Mayor Paul Antonio the changes made to a Council policy would continue to offer an incentive to boost growth across the region’s towns and rural areas.

The policy now explicitly lists long-term accommodation, particularly retirement accommodation and residential care facilities, as being eligible for consideration for a reduction in infrastructure charges.

“Council will offer up to $1 million per financial year for the incentives program in a bid to drive development of long-term accommodation facilities and other eligible development across the region,” Mayor Antonio said.

“It is especially designed to encourage this type of development in the region’s towns and rural areas.

“Health services are not only the largest employer across the entire region, but often a major, if not the leading employer in our towns.”
