The South Burnett will light up again to celebrate Christmas, thanks to mining magnate Gina Rinehart and her company, Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd.

Mrs Rinehart confirmed this week she will be sponsoring the annual Christmas Lights Competition for the third year running.

“I am pleased to announce that Hancock Prospecting has once again generously donated the prizes for the South Burnett Christmas Lights Competition,” Mayor Keith Campbell said on Tuesday.

“Residents of the South Burnett Regional Council area will have the opportunity to share the Christmas spirit with their Christmas light displays, and they could win a wonderful prize into the bargain.

“The South Burnett has had some great entries in the Christmas Lights competition over the past couple of years, and the prizes are really outstanding.”

The competition’s winner and runner-up will both receive a trip to Singapore for two adults and two children aged up to 12 years.

“This is thanks to Mrs. Rinehart and Hancock Prospecting, who wanted to share the Christmas magic with the South Burnett community,” the Mayor said.

Nomination forms and further details about the competition will be available in coming weeks on the South Burnett Regional Council’s website and Facebook page.

Previous winners will not be eligible to win one of the major prizes, so that others who have not previously won will have the chance to enjoy the prize of a trip to Singapore.
