Former Kingaroy resident Dennis Watt is stepping down from his role as chairman of the Brisbane Broncos.

Dennis, who is the son of Billie and the late Les Watt, announced on Friday he would be leaving the role which he took up in 2013.

He has been a Board member at the Broncos since 2013.

Dennis has been a frequent visitor to Kingaroy in recent years to catch up with his mother Billie, who has now shifted to Brisbane.

He will remain at the Broncos until the end of the year.

Dennis has had a long career in print media, serving as general manager of Quest Community Newspapers, chief-of-staff and assistant editor at the Courier-Mail, and chief-of-staff and news editor at The Sun and Daily Sun.

He also formerly worked at the South Burnett Times.
