The Wondai branch of the ALP will be holding a meet and greet at Wondai’s Cecil Hotel at 3:30pm on Saturday, October 28 to introduce its Federal and State candidates for the seats of Flynn and Nanango.

Zac Beers, the ALP’s candidate for Flynn in 2016, intends to run for preselection to contest the next federal election after only narrowly missing out on winning the seat, where he lead incumbent Ken O’Dowd by a large margin until postal votes were counted.

Zac lives in Gladstone with his wife Emily and was school captain at Tannum Sands State High School.

After graduating, he went on to work as a labourer for a Gladstone business before becoming an organiser for the Australian Workers Union, and is currently completing degrees in law and commerce.

Ben Rankin, meanwhile, is the ALP’s candidate for the state seat of Nanango.

Ben, his wife and his extended family of six children have lived in Yarraman for the past six years after relocating from the coast because of their love of country life.

Ben has worked in a variety of roles including butcher shops, the transport industry and warehousing, but now runs his own small business specialising in personal appearance services.

The meet and greet will be held in the hotel’s dining room and light refreshments will be provided.

However, to assist with catering an RSVP to 0407-690-142 would be appreciated.
