Mobile phone coverage along the D’Aguilar Highway looks set to improve for Optus customers following approval for the construction of a new tower in Benarkin State Forest.

The plan is for a 60m Optus tower to be built in an area of forestry on a hill near Moore.

Somerset Regional Council has approved the project, which will require the felling of some timber in the immediate vicinity.

Telstra already has a 3G / 4G base station just east of Moore.
