Urban and rural fire crews are assisting National Parks and Wildlife personnel to battle three fires in the National Park and forestry areas near Wondai and Cherbourg.
At 1:30pm, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services reported three crews were at the scene of a fire near Old Wondai Road, while another two crews were en route.
Another crew was at a smaller vegetation fire near the Tingoora Charlestown Road at the opposite end of Old Wondai Road; and three crews were fighting a larger blaze near the intersection of Hoggs Road and Old Wondai Road, with a fourth crew en route.
Fire crews are using an earth mover to construct fire breaks at the Hoggs Road blaze.
The fires are creating large plumes of smoke over Wondai which can be seen as far away as Kingaroy and Nanango.
The wind is blowing this smoke towards Cherbourg and Moffatdale.
QFES has asked residents to phone 000 immediately if they believe their property is under threat.
There was a fire at Blacksnake, Kilkivan, yesterday as well.
