Are you a former Meals on Wheels helper at Wondai? If so, long-time volunteer Michelle Smith would like to hear from you ASAP.

An afternoon tea is being held at the Wondai RSL on Thursday, September 21, to thank all volunteers from the Wondai Meals On Wheels.

Michelle has been with the service since the very first Wondai MOW planning meeting, held on August 18, 1983.

The Wondai service began with 16 clients, and the meals cost $1.50 each.

The team did their first delivery run on September 12, 1983.

For most of the Wondai MOW’s life, meals were prepared in the kitchen behind the old Wondai Shire Council Chambers.

SBcare took over running the service on July 1 and meals are now prepared from the SBcare kitchen in Kingaroy.
