3:00pm:

Multiple fire crews are attending another bushfire burning in the Taromeo area … this time near Taromeo Rise and Old Esk Road.

The fire broke out about 1:00pm on Sunday.

A QFES spokesperson said it was not threatening property at this time but was producing large volumes of smoke.

Residents should close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

4:00pm:

Smoke may be affecting Benarkin residents, including those in the vicinity of Hilary Road, Gibson Road, Martin Crescent, Cameron Road, Old Esk Road and McLaughlan Road.

UPDATE September 25: Firefighters were back at Taromeo Rise and Old Esk Road again on Monday. At 5:15pm, the fire was reported to be under control.
