Caravans and campervans at the Murgon Music Muster … the local tourism industry would like to invite more RVers to visit and stay in the region

August 22, 2017

The Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry has joined with the Australian Caravan Club and South Burnett Regional Council to bring a special tourism awareness workshop to the South Burnett.

The free workshop will focus on the RV (“recreational vehicle”) industry, ie. caravans and campervans, and how best to attract them to the region.

KCCI president Rob Fitz-Herbert encouraged all local businesses to attend the workshop to learn how to make the South Burnett a must-visit venue for RVers.

South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell also welcomed the initiative.

“Over the last 10 years, our region has been gratified to see a steady increase of caravan clubs and RVers travelling through and staying in the South Burnett,” he said.

“By providing local businesses with this industry workshop, it can only increase our tourism profile and the end result is to get the word out there that the South Burnett Region is a ‘must’ when travelling around Queensland and Australia.”

The workshop will be led by representatives from the Australian Caravan Club (ACC).

ACC chairman Craig Humphrey said businesses in the South Burnett region would benefit from attending.

“(It) will focus on many topics including the economic benefits that can be gained by local businesses from catering to the needs of the RV traveller, how to engage with RVers, how to encourage RVers to visit, and opportunities to access the growing RV community,” he said.

Topics the workshop will cover include:

  • The value of the industry to regional communities
  • How communities and individual businesses can encourage RVers to visit and reflect on their overall experience
  • Opportunities to access the burgeoning RV market
  • What industry enthusiasts might be looking for when they visit communities (and individual businesses)
  • Information sources for local businesses

The workshop will be held from 5:30pm on Tuesday, September 5, at the Reception Room, Kingaroy Town Hall.

RSVPs can be made by emailing KCCI Secretary Paula Greenwood.
