The Burnett branch of the Ulysses social motorbike club want your help to bring the joy of Christmas to needy South Burnett families this year.

In late June when the club announced their plan to bring a Christmas Toy Run to the South Burnett, they asked for help from local businesses and residents who’d agree to act as drop-off points for gifts of toys and non-perishable food items.

Toy Run organiser Sandy Nebe said within days of the Toy Run’s announcement in southburnett.com.au, the club received an “astonishing” response and were overwhelmed by the South Burnett’s generosity.

But with time rolling on, the Ulysses now need help of a slightly different kind.

“We are bringing the Christmas Toy Run to the South Burnett by collecting toys and non-perishable food items from the public,” Sandy said.

“These items will be passed on to the Salvation Army in Kingaroy to help bring joy to families in need this Christmas.

“Our aim is to start collecting toys and food items six weeks prior to the Toy Run date, then collect them on the day at each stop point on the Toy Run route.”

The club also wants to run a multi-prize raffle as part of the Toy Run so it can donate the proceeds to the CTC Emergency Relief Fund.

“Because the Ulysses are a not-for-profit organisation, we are asking local businesses for their support to help make this event something families will look forward to and support each year,” Sandy said.

“We’d gratefully appreciate businesses who could support the Toy Run by helping us with a donation of a raffle item. Any residents who’d like to donate a great raffle prize are very welcome to take part in this, too.

“But we need to know as soon as possible because we’re hoping to start selling tickets in early September.”

If you can help, either send an email or phone Sandy on 0419-709-070.
