Sing Australia Kingaroy is no more … but don’t panic, it’s now Sing Australia South Burnett!

The group of about 25 keen choristers meets every Monday night at the Uniting Church Hall in Kingaroy, except during school holidays and on public holidays.

And they put on performances throughout the region.

So they thought it was time to expand their geographical horizons and update their name to “South Burnett”.

“We wanted to be more inclusive,” spokesperson Sharon Coughlan said.

“We are thinking forward and have positive energy to get new people to come along.”

South Burnett councillor Danita Potter recently presented the group with a cheque for $589 out of her council discretionary fund.

The group will use the money to purchase a new surf flag which features their new name as well as two packs of song books for new members.

“Thank you Danita for granting us this wonderful, wonderful amount of money,” Sharon said.
