Kingaroy Shoppingworld was busier than usual on Wednesday morning.

The reason? The centre’s long-awaited new Muffin Break store opened finally opened its doors after several months under wraps.

The opening had been forecast by Kingaroy Shoppingworld centre manager Chris O’Rourke at last month’s Kingaroy Chamber Of Commerce and Industry meeting, and it occurred right on schedule.

The new franchise is owned by Donna Ryan, who also owns the Jamaica Blue cafe next door.

All muffins, cakes and slices sold by the new store are made fresh everyday.

At 10:30am the South Burnett Regional Council also took a hand in the celebrations.

Councillors temporarily closed their monthly meeting at the nearby council chambers so Mayor Keith Campbell could officially open the new shop.

And then – since all other Councillors had followed him to see the store themselves – everyone took their morning tea break there.

Outside, Corky and Shaz from CROW-FM ran an outside broadcast to mark the occasion while a long line of customers waited patiently to try the Muffin Break’s wares.

The new store, and another planned to open soon, will return Shoppingworld to full capacity.

Breakfast announcer Chris “Corky” Corcoran, drive time host Shaz Birkett and CROW-FM chairman John Box had fun doing an outside broadcast in front of the new shop
