FLASHBACK: Elvis (Jeff Hancox), Brisvegas showgirl Phoebe Jessop and Cr Roz Frohloff at last year’s Funfest Casino Night … get ready to roll the dice again on Saturday, September 2

August 21, 2017

The fourth annual Nanango Casino Night will be held on Saturday, September 2, and keen gamblers should start practising now.

The popular annual event is a fundraiser for RACQ LifeFlight.

It’s been a consistent crowd-pleaser the past few years, but this year it will be getting a little bit of a shake up.

For starters, the venue will move from the Nanango Cultural Centre to Taras Hall next to Nanango RSL.

The new venue will make supplying continuous finger foods all evening much easier, and also allow guests to buy extra refreshments at RSL prices.

A second change is that this year’s individual ticket price has been reduced to $50, and table sponsorship to $660 – well down on last year’s figures.

Each ticket entitles guests to $2000 in play money, two free drinks and continuous finger foods all evening, as well as the chance to take part in raffles.

Extra play money can also be purchased if Lady Luck fails to smile on your gaming strategies.

But two popular features of the event won’t change.

First up, the South Burnett’s very own Elvis (Jeff Hancox) – fresh from a trip to Memphis, USA – will be on hand to provide live entertainment throughout the night.

And second, Brisvegas and their croupiers will be returning with casino standard playing tables offering blackjack, roulette, craps, Texas Hold’em Poker and more to spoil patrons for gambling choices.

This year’s Casino Night will have a 1920s Gangsters and Molls theme, and patrons who dress to it can be in the running for a Best Dressed prize.

Dress-ups aren’t compulsory, though, and guests without 1920s clothing in their closet can wear after-five attire.

The aim of the Casino Night is to allow guests to experience all the thrills of casino gambling without any of the risks, and see who can amass the biggest winnings.

Last year, two people managed to grow their initial stake into a combined $2.1 million in play money – not bad for a fun night’s work that also helps a good cause!

  • Tickets for the Casino Night can be obtained from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, or by phoning Gloria on (07) 4163-2848 or Terry on (07) 4163-1999.
