Archbishop Mark Coleridge … special guest at the Centenary celebrations

Nanango’s “Little Cathedral In The Bush” has released the program for its centenary celebrations over the weekend of September 23-24.

The “Little Cathedral” is the nickname of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, and also references the name of a history book about the church which will be launched by Archbishop Mark Coleridge during the celebrations.

Events will get underway on Saturday afternoon (September 23) at 2:00pm with a concert by the South Burnett Chorale in the church.

This will be followed at 2:30pm with a picture show in the church of weddings over the years.

At 3:00pm, visitors will move to the meeting room and church grounds to enjoy afternoon tea.

About 4:00pm, Archbishop Mark Coleridge will bless the Centenary plaque.

The focus will then shift to St Patrick’s School Hall at 4:30pm for a concert and the official launch “The Little Cathedral In The Bush” history book, which has been put together by local historian and parishioner Liz Caffery.

This will be followed by wine and cheese and light refreshments.

On Sunday, Archbishop Coleridge will preside at the Centenary Mass at 10:00am.

After Mass, there will be a shared BYO picnic lunch a barbecue / sausage sizzle in the grounds of St Patrick’s School. A coffee van will also be on site.

On both days, there will be displays of memorabilia and other items to peruse in the Meeting Room and in St Patrick’s School Hall.

Copies of the history book will be on sale for $25, Centenary calendars for $10 and wedding USBs for $5.
