Love a parade? The Blackbutt Avocado Festival have issued an invitation to South Burnett community groups and businesses to get involved in this year’s Festival street parade.

The parade will be held on Saturday, September 9 and will set off at 11:00am.

“The aim of the Bloomin’ Beautiful Street Parade is to provide the Blackbutt district with a vibrant, colourful event which showcases the agricultural, historical and cultural strengths of the town and promotes Blackbutt as the gateway to the South Burnett,” Festival chairman Jeff Connor said.

The theme for this year’s parade is “All Things Avocado – Avo Go”.

“It is up to parade entrants how they interpret this,” Jeff said.

“The only requirement is that they include something “Avocado” in their entry.

“This can be the whole entry, part of the entry or just a reminder that this is the Blackbutt Avocado Festival.”

The parade will follow a route from Muir Street, right into Coulson Street, right into Hart Street and then follow the rail trail past Nukku Nook, the Memorial Hall, and the market stalls before finishing with a Grand Parade in the main arena of the Blackbutt Showgrounds.

Coulson Street will be blocked to traffic to allow the parade to pass.

Registrations to take part in the parade will remain open until Friday, September 1.

Registration forms are available on the Avocado Festival’s Facebook page and website.

“If you have any questions or require further information. please don’t hesitate to contact Marg Moult, our Parade Co-ordinator, at PO Box 255, Blackbutt 4306,” Jeff said.

“Alternatively, you can leave a message on our Facebook page and it will be passed to Marg so she can get back to you.”
