South Burnett Saints enjoyed a strong win over the Toowoomba Tigers in the Darling Downs AFL competition on Saturday, lifting them within striking distance of competition leaders, University Cougars.

Saints travelled to Toowoomba to take on the Tigers.

They powered over the home team right from the start, leading by 32 at the end of the first quarter, 5.3 (33) to 0.1 (1).

The margin continued to grow as the game progressed; the final score was 19.11 (125) to 7.8 (50).

Saints’ goal kickers were Jordan Pressnell (5), Troy Miller (2), Ben Pressnell (2), Kerron Weber (2), Lloyd Slater, Brad Pressnell, Daniel Trace, Joseph Amery, Keegan Wright, Adam Bowater, Brenton Noe and Braeden Snow.

The Saints’ next game will be back at home next Saturday at Lyle Vidler Oval, against the Goondiwindi Hawks.

The Tigers turned the tables on a short-handed South Burnett Saints’ women’s team.

The final score was 20.9 (129) to 0.2 (2).

The Saints’ women have a bye this weekend.
