Nanango police are appealing for public help to find the original owner of a pine corner TV cabinet which had a hidden bounty inside … a large amount of cash.

A member of the public bought the secondhand cabinet, branded “Everyday Country”, at the Hervey Bay Recycling Market at North Nikenbah on June 27.

A police spokesman said that once the buyer arrived home and began unloading the cabinet from his vehicle, one of the drawers opened and a substantial amount of cash fell out.

The man went to Nanango Police Station and handed the cash over to officers.

Police are keen to reunite the money with the original owner.

They are appealing for anyone who may have information about the cabinet to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
