This year’s Dinner With The Captains is almost sold out, but a few tickets are still available for people who act quickly.

The star-studded event is an annual fundraiser for the South Burnett’s Relay For Life fundraising drive, and this year rugby player Andrew Slack, softballer Joyce Lester and test cricketer Greg Ritchie will be the night’s special guests.

All three have captained for Australia in international sporting competitions.

They’ll be sharing their stories – often, very funny ones – and providing insights into what got them into their sport, what motivated them and what they’ve done since.

The chief executive officer of the Queensland Cancer Council will also give a talk.

Dinner organiser Carl Rackemann said the event has become a fixture in the region’s social calendar, and one that raises a significant amount of money each year to help fight cancer.

“We want everyone to have a really great night, but also want to raise as much money as we possibly can for Relay For Life to help the fight against cancer.

“The South Burnett contributes the highest amount per capita to Relay For Life in Queensland, and everyone should be very proud for supporting this great cause.”

However, Carl warned that if people want to buy tickets they better get in quick.

“We’ve had an extremely good response from the community and there’s a very good crowd already booked in.

“But there are limited tickets available, so people should book immediately if they want to come.”

Dinner With The Captains will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall on Saturday, July 22 from 5:30pm.

Tickets are $90 per person for a gourmet three-course meal, or $900 for a table of 10, and need to be pre-booked by phoning CROW-FM on (07) 4169-0700.

Dress attire is semi-formal, a licensed bar will be operating, and a free bus service will be running from Murgon.
