The South Burnett Regional Council will call for Expressions of Interest to operate Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House complex at the end of this week

The South Burnett Regional Council will call for expressions of interest to manage the operations of Ringsfield House in Nanango this Friday (May 19).

The historic property is owned by the Council but was formerly operated by the Nanango Historical Society.

It closed its doors on March 31 when the Society relinquished control of the complex.

The Society said it was reluctantly forced to do so because of the age of the group’s existing members, and a lack of volunteers stepping forward to help with the property’s maintenance.

The Council originally hoped the property would only be closed for six to eight weeks.

But at last month’s Council meeting, Properties portfolio chair Cr Terry Fleischfresser said the Society had advised it needed more time to finalise an asset list for all Ringsfield’s buildings and historic artefacts.

At Tuesday’s monthly meeting, Cr Fleischfresser said the Society’s work was still progressing, and the Council will release an EOI on May 19.

The EOI will be advertised locally, regionally and state-wide and will remain open for four weeks until June 16, by which time he hoped the Historical Society’s audit would be complete.

The option to manage Ringsfield will be open to both commercial and non-commercial operators.
