Police Seize $600,000 Drugs

Three people have been charged and more than $600,000 in drugs and stolen property seized by police following an investigation conducted by the Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural), based in Kingaroy.

On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant on a rural property at Torbanlea.

They allegedly located a hydroponic crop consisting of 93 cannabis plants inside a machinery shed, along with a quantity of dried cannabis.

They also allegedly found cattle yard and handling equipment reported stolen from a leased property within Wongi State Forest in 2016.

A 62-year-old man has been charged with producing a dangerous drug, possessing a dangerous drug, possessing things used in the commission of an offence, possessing explosives, stealing, and receiving stolen property.

A 61-year-old woman was charged with possessing a dangerous drug, possessing a drug utensil and possessing a thing used in the commission of a crime.

On Thursday, detectives attended a Widgee property and allegedly located a further 73 cannabis plants, dried cannabis and cannabis seeds.

A 41-year-old man was charged with possessing a dangerous drug, producing a dangerous drug and possessing a utensil.

“The theft of equipment and infrastructure can have a significant impact on producers,” Detective Inspector Mick Dowie said.

“They are often required to leave equipment in remote areas with little protection, trusting people will not steal their valuable assets.”
