Kingaroy detectives are investigating an incident which left a South Burnett man with a stab wound to the abdomen on Thursday night.

Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Johannesen said about 9:00pm a number of people – believed to be known to each other – were involved in an altercation near the corner of Alford and Mant streets in Kingaroy.

“As a result, a 47-year-old male was transported to Kingaroy Hospital with a puncture wound to the abdomen and subsequently airlifted to Brisbane,” Snr Sgt Johannesen said.

The injury is believed to be serious but not life threatening.

Snr Sgt Johannesen said CIB detectives were currently speaking to a number of people as part of an ongoing investigation.
