There’ll be a special group taking part in Sunday’s seven kilometre Reconciliation Fun Run from Murgon to Cherbourg.

A team of staff members from Cherbourg Hospital will be taking part this year to help spread the “healthy” message.

But Liz Nicholson says her colleagues may need a little bit of encouragement to go the distance.

She’s hoping that spectators and other runners will help to cheer on the “girls in green”.

And Liza is also hoping that there will be a lot of runners to join them on the course.

Registrations for the fun run can be made online

Participants must be at the Murgon Showgrounds at 7:00am on Sunday morning.

There will be buses available to take people back to their cars after the run is completed.

Runners should keep their eyes open as there will be several celebrity sportspeople taking part in the run: Olympic marathon runner Robert de Castella, long jumper Robbie Crowther and runner Larissa Chambers.

Police would like to remind motorists of the upcoming road closures on Sunday for the Fun Run.

The 7km fun run begins at 8:00am at the Murgon Showgrounds with the last participants expected to finish by 10:00am at the Ration Shed, Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg.

A full-road closure will be enforced along Cherbourg Road, Murgon (at the intersection of the Bunya Highway) and Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg between 8:00am and 10:00am.

Motorists are advised that the road closures will cause delays. There will also be an increased number of pedestrians that motorists are asked to be aware of. Police and traffic controllers will be in attendance to assist motorists and pedestrians.
