Jordy Green (Audrey), Bill Sharp (Seymour), Kendall Siddans (Mr Mushnick) and Esther Treiguts starred in the SBMCS production of the ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ last year

The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society, which recently completed a successful season with Jesus Christ Superstar, is looking for ideas about future productions.

The group already has the rest of 2017 planned: a production of The Wizard Of Oz, directed by Craig Reiger, followed possibly by a theatre-restaurant show.

But they have turned to the public for help on deciding their 2018-19 program.

Director Warren Wintour said possible selections had been listed on an online poll to allow the public to vote for their choice.

The choices are Les Miserables, Evita, Chess, the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Big River, all presented in concert form.

  1. First off, what excellent performances have been offered by the SBMCS… even had a turn at it myself at one stage. That said, I am a purist, and would rather attend a performance of a full show, not just its songs in concert. In fact, I wouldn’t attend an “in concert” offering. Please consider.

Also may I draw attention to to voting page link. The page opens, but one cannot submit a vote. Good luck

    • Clem … here’s the way to do it. Click on the image from the musical you prefer and when you see the large green solid tick, go to the base of the page and click on the “vote” button. We’ve updated the report, too.

  2. Thank you Clem for taking the time to respond. In 2017, the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society have increased our productions to cater to the diverse needs of the South Burnett Community. We asked what audiences wanted to see and have modified our offerings accordingly :) Our new production format, that we trialed for the first time this year, is to have 3 productions each year – a concert, a full show and a theatre restaurant. We are spreading them across the year to provide South Burnett audiences with variety. An additional benefit is that we’re appealing to a wider section of the community who are now showing increased interest in attending our auditions and filling production roles, too. This is an additional benefit, meaning that audiences will see a greater variety of performers in a wider array of performance genres. A win for everyone :)
