Nanango’s 108th annual agricultural show will have something different this year – Australia’s largest touring ferris wheel.
The giant ferris wheel was first seen at the 2013 Kingaroy Show, and has been back to Kingaroy several times since.
But this year it will be making its first appearance in Nanango, and the Nanango Show Society are confident it will be a big hit.
The Show will kick off on Friday evening with Stud Cattle Young Judges and Handlers competitions in the main ring while showies finish setting up their stalls and amusement rides in preparation for the main public day on Saturday.
But when the gates open at 6:00am Saturday morning, they’ll usher in a jam-packed program of entertainment for all ages and interests that Show Society president Les Schloss believes will offer “something for everyone”.
Apart from the traditional stud cattle and horse events, this year’s Show will again feature harness racing, which was restored in 2016 after an absence of 14 years.
There’ll also be chainsawing, woodchops, and the Show’s popular afternoon rodeo running between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
Big items on this year’s program include IWA Pro Wrestling, a sculpture auction, the Ring Of Fire horse spectacular, and an exciting dirt bike derby.
Other features to look out for include a very big Sideshow Alley, lots of great amusement rides, a snake show, pig racing, blacksmith farrier hot shoeing, a baby animal farm, snaffle bit cutting, pavilion displays, and free face painting for children.
This year’s Show will be officially opened at 2:00pm by former Nanango Rural Ambassador – now Queensland Rural Ambassador – Justin Matthews, accompanied by this year’s Miss Nanango Showgirl Rebecca Clapperton and Rural Ambassador Hanna Perrett.
The traditional Giant Fireworks Display will light up the night skies about 8:30pm.
Admission to this year’s Nanango Show is $12 for adults and $6 for pension card holders and children over 14.
Children under 14 accompanied by a paying adult are admitted free, otherwise they’re $6 too.
A bar, BBQ and lots of food stalls will be operating in the grounds throughout the day and well into the night.
There’ll also be live music in the main pavilion from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, followed by a country rock band performing from 8:00pm until midnight.

- 8:30pm – Fireworks
- 8:45pm – Wrestling (3rd round)
- 9:00pm – Dirt Bike Derby
