The South Burnett Regional Council awarded $29,943 in grants to 22 community groups at Wednesday’s monthly Council meeting.

The grants were part of the Council’s Community Assistance and Healthy Communities grant programs.

Communities portfolio chair Cr Danita Potter said 37 applications had been received for the latest grant round.

Because the environment was competitive, the assessment committee had put all applications through a lengthy review and assessment process based on merit.

The successful applicants were:

  • Blackbutt Art Gallery – $842
  • Blackbutt C&K Community Kindergarten – $400
  • Blackbutt Singers – $3000

Cr Potter also urged all not-for-profit community groups in the region to register or update their details on the South Burnett Regional Council’s community group database.

“Our database holds the names and contact details for the executive members of all the groups we know about but naturally these change if people step down from a role or swap positions,” Cr Potter said.

“There are also new groups being formed that we may know nothing about.

“But if we have your group listed on our database, we can let you know about things that might assist you.”

Cr Potter said community group members who wanted to add or update their details could phone her on 0409-490-175 or email her
