The 18th annual Wine and Food in the Park Festival was launched in style on Friday night with a special “Style With The Stars” evening.

For the past three years the festival has held a gala event under the stars at Memorial Park in Kingaroy, and they’ve grown to become a social high high point of each year.

For a change, the evening switched this year to the Kingaroy & District Machinery Club premises at Kingaroy Airport.

It featured a 1950s rock’n’roll theme and guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a special tour of the Kingaroy Observatory across the road.

A pair of Chevrolet hotrods parked at the front of the clubhouse added to the atmosphere.

Inside, South Burnett wineries served up the wine, while members of the Machinery Club kept the main bar running.

South Burnett chef Mike Giles, from OMG Catering, kept up a continuous flow of canapes through the night to keep the guests fed.

Saturday, of course, is the main day for Wine and Food in the Park.

Gates will open at noon at Memorial Park in Kingaroy. Entry is $20 – the same price for a number of years – and early arrivals will have the opportunity to get some special extras.
