Murgon will host the Grand Final of the South Burnett cricket competition after the Crusaders defeated the Wooroolin Warriors by 11 runs in Kingaroy.

The major semi-final was played at Lyle Vidler Oval on Saturday.

Murgon Crusaders batted first and finished 8/260 off their 45 overs.

Lehman Brunjes top-scored with 88, followed by good totals from Jared Sippel (43), Jason Webber (37) and James McUtchen (25 not out).

Mitchell Crossley was the best of the Warriors’ bowlers, taking 4/60 off nine overs.

Other wickets were taken by Faisal Khan (2/47 off 8), Andrew Askin (1/43 off 9) and Luke Smith (1/47 off 9).

In reply, Wooroolin fell just short, ending with 8/249 off their 45 overs.

Trevor Hansen was best of the Warriors’ batsmen, unbeaten on 50.

Hayden Wieck (46) and Dan O’Connor (40) also enjoyed good knocks.

Jared Sippel was the most lethal of the Crusaders’ bowlers, taking 3/27 off nine overs.

Other wickets were taken by James McUtchen (2/27 off 9), Bryce Edwards (1/16 off 3), Stuey Robinson (1/16 off 2) and Tom Patton (1/51 off 4).

The Grand Final will be played on March 25 at Murgon Showgrounds.

Crusaders will play the winner of the semi-final between Wooroolin Warriors and Kumbia Rattlers next Saturday at Lyle Vidler Oval.
