A Family Fun Day organised by St Mary’s Catholic College P&F drew a crowd of about 400 people to the college’s grounds on Saturday afternoon, despite the heat.
A big attraction for a lot of young children – and even some older ones – were water games on the lawns, carried out with water pistols, and occasionally hoses and buckets.
Others queued for a turn at Splatt Attack, trying to hit one another with wet sponges shot from high-powered air cannons.
Others took advantage of face painting to get made up.
And in the Maryknoll Centre, a large jumping castle also drew a steady stream of youngsters.
Outside, as the afternoon wore on, many parents and their children took part in a treasure hunt, before chowing down on a sausage sizzle accompanied by a cool soft drink.
The event was partially organised as a “get to know you” gathering for parents, but its main intention was to provide an inexpensive afternoon of family fun before the term’s hard work really gets underway.
Proceeds of the day will be used by the P&F for school improvements.

Thanks for covering school events. The kids and I were sorry to miss out as we had to be on the Gold Coast on the weekend, but it looks like a great time was had by all!
