Waterhole Rocks – Nanango’s annual celebration of all things rock’n’roll – has enjoyed its biggest and best year so far!

Organising committee spokesman Terry Mackrell said more than 250 caravans booked in and there would have been 1000 people at the showgrounds on Saturday night.

“It was eight times bigger than the first one (in 2012),” he said.

The new dancefloor, which had been widened and lengthened this year to accommodate more dancers, was “fantastic”, Terry said.

“We didn’t have to repair it and it was better for the dancers,” he said.

“One comment in the suggestion box said it all: ‘We danced for four days and we haven’t got sore knees!’.”

The South Burnett Gas Guzzlers club hosted a cruise on Saturday up to the Bunya Mountains, which was well-supported.

Terry said the club also used the opportunity of the weekend to present a cheque for $2000 to Kingaroy mum Teigan Magee, whose son Hudson was born in May with a rare hearing problem, bilateral microtia.

Hudson will require expensive surgery, as well as a string of hearing aids and speech therapy as he grows up.

A bucket was also passed around at Waterhole Rocks, raising another $300 for young Hudson.
