The Endeavour Foundation charity shop in Drayton Street, Nanango will close on Saturday, November 26.

The shop, which specialised in recycled clothing, is one of 26 recycled clothing shops the group currently operate in Queensland, along with 10 “tip shops” that market recycled furniture.

“Endeavour Foundation operates retail stores purely to raise vital funds to support people with a disability,” Endeavour Foundation’s national retail manager Leah Dubelman said.

“Due to a combination of a changing retail environment and increasing operational costs, we have had to take the difficult decision to close the Nanango outlet.”

The store did not directly employ people with a disability, so the closure would not affect supported employment, Ms Dubelman said.

“We know that the hard work and dedication of volunteers at the store has been invaluable to our mission to partner with people with a disability in pursuit of their aspirations.

“We will continue to work closely with them during this process, helping them to find alternative opportunities.”

The move to close the charity store follows a decision by the group in March to close down its bingo games around the State, which included Endeavour Bingo in Kingaroy.

Kingaroy RSL has since taken over the franchise, and now uses the proceeds to assist worthwhile local causes.

Endeavour Foundation continue to operate Kingaroy Kitchen, Biscuits and Fine Foods in Kingaroy.

Kingaroy Kitchen provides employment and training opportunities for 27 South Burnett people with a disability.
