A new club for South Burnett mountain bike riders had its first outing in the Wondai State Forest last Sunday.

Now the newly incorporated South Burnett Mountain Bike Club is looking to for more members.

“The club is looking to promote the sport for fun, fitness, and – for some members – the thrill of racing other mountain bikers around the region,” club secretary Jason Wyeth said.

“Whether it is a single track in Wondai or Nanango or one of the many dirt back roads around Kingaroy, Memerambi, Corndale or Murgon, there are a lot of fun places to ride.”

“Our club is also affiliated with Mountain Bike Australia, which provides members with a number of services, including insurance.”

The club’s first social ride last Sunday took 31 riders through the single tracks in the Wondai State Forest.

“The ride took us along fire trails and many single trails,” Jason said.

“The single trails have been created over several years by local Wondai riders, and it was fantastic to utilise tracks that have taken so much effort to develop.

“Everyone had a great time, and many riders enjoyed a sausage and drink afterwards.”

The club now plans to hold similar rides around the South Burnett each month, with the next ride scheduled for Sunday, November 20 at a location yet to be announced.

Anyone interested in joining the club or finding out more about it is very welcome come along to the group’s next meeting, which will held at Kingaroy’s Carrollee Hotel on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:00pm.

They can also join the club’s Facebook page, send an email, or phone Jason on 0418-881-289 for more information or to be added to the club’s email list.
