FLASHBACK: The Alford Street culvert during the 2013 floods … the road narrows at the crossing and currently there is only a pedestrian access on one side

October 21, 2016

South Burnett Regional Council will be closing Alford Street, Kingaroy – between William and Burnett streets – from Monday (October 24) for a major upgrade to the culvert next to Memorial Park.

Works will include the widening and replacement of the culvert as well as providing pedestrian and bicycle paths on both sides of the new structure.

The stretch of roadway will remain closed until January.

A Council spokesperson said existing on-street parking and drop off areas for the Kingaroy State School, WJ Lang Swimming Pool and Memorial Park would still be accessible.

To accommodate the traffic flow, a cul-de-sac traffic arrangement will be provided prior to the closed off area and through traffic will be detoured via Haly Street.
