If you haven’t filled in your Census form yet, this is now the last chance to do so or risk being fined.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is wrapping up the formal collection period for the 2016 Census on Friday (September 23).

The Census can be quickly completed online using your 12-digit Login, or you can mail the paper form back ASAP in the reply paid envelope provided.

“Paper forms will continue to be accepted as they make their way back via return mail,” Census head Duncan Young said.

“Around 95 per cent of households have completed the Census.”

Mr Young said data from the Census influences Federal funding to States, Territories and local governments.

“Your participation is essential to the future of your community. Without this information, the government, organisations and community groups aren’t able to plan and provide vital services for you, your community and your area,” he said.

“Census data is used to inform decision and policy making in every area across Australia.

“It shows population growth and demographics to help plan investment in schools and day care facilities for children, aged care services for the elderly, hospitals and transport.”
