Keynan Rew does a wheelstand after winning the Solo Championship Final

Sunshine Coast speedway rider Keynan Rew set a new track record to take out the 2016 Under 16 125cc Solo Queensland State Championships, raced in Kingaroy on Saturday.

Rew competed against 14 other rides in a series of rounds before leading all the way in the A Final.

Close behind was Jacob Hook (Brisbane), Cordell Rogerson (Kingaroy) and James Pearson (Sydney) .

Rew set the new lap record in the final, 45.79 seconds.

The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Club also hosted a revival of the U16s Best Pairs Queensland State Championship, which had not been raced for about five years.

James Pearson and Maurice Brown (Sydney) came home in first place with 24 points, followed by Cordell Rogerson (Kingaroy) and Flynn Nicol (Brisbane) with 21 points, and Jacob Hook and Broc Hall (Brisbane) with 17 points.

The Kingaroy Bees’ planned club day on Sunday was washed out.
