The scene that greeted visitors to Mt Wooroolin on Monday morning … a muddy mess of torn-up turf

September 19, 2016

Kingaroy police are disgusted by vandalism which occurred at the Mt Wooroolin Lookout at some time over the weekend.

Hoons intent on doing circle work on the wet grass, ripped out a bollard and then proceeded to tear up the turf with their wheels into a mass of mud.

“It is disgraceful behaviour,” officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said.

“The costs of fixing it will be borne by Council, and ultimately ratepayers.

“It is childish, immature behaviour.”

A visitor at Mt Wooroolin on Monday morning was even more forthcoming: “If I caught them, I’d show them what hooning really is!”, she told southburnett.com.au

Snr Sgt Frank said anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity at Mt Wooroolin over the weekend should call Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000 or Kingaroy Police on (07) 4160-4900.

Grass in another part of the park is only just starting to recover from a previous bout of vandalism

  1. What disgusting behavior. The individuals involved are a blight on our community. Apart from a substantial fine, their community service should be to complete the restoration of the damage they caused?

    • Unfortunately this behavior will never stop. If the council provided a premises where people could do burnouts in a controlled environment for a fee I’m sure it would be frequented by many. Put the emphasis back on the young hoons to persuade others to keep it off the streets. Where they’ve had the drift demos in the past at the airport is a perfect location, get rural fire brigade involved . Registered cars and licenced drivers only, even have a mobile tyre fitter with 2nd hand rwc tyres on sale to help fund. Public interest will determine the frequency of the event. I seriously feel this could curve the young drivers to bring it to the track. In regards to the people responsible, c’mon guys !!! You’ve got how many places to go and do circle work ,it’s not rocket science to not hack up a known tourist spot. Surely there’s someone amongst you who knows someone where you can get your thrash on.
