A 51-year-old Kingaroy man has been charged with a high-range drink-driving offence after an incident in Fisher Street, Kingaroy, on Wednesday afternoon.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the man was driving down Fisher Street when his vehicle hit the bollards at a traffic-calming chicane.

Police located the man in a house in Joseph Street, where he allegedly admitted to being the driver.

When police breath-tested the man, he allegedly blew .282 BAC.

“That’s all but six times the legal limit,” Snr Sgt Frank said. “It was just pure luck that he wasn’t involved in a more serious crash.”

The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 10.
