There are just two weeks left for competitors to get their entries in, stall holders to book a site and comedy fans to secure tickets to see the Kransky Sisters at this year’s Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Avocado Festival.

The festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 10-11, in Blackbutt.

This year is the first official avocado-themed festival and it will feature an array of special events and activities, as well as famous “guests from Esk”.

Some of the things that will be happening at the Avocado Festival on Saturday, September 10, include:

  • Live & Local At Les Muller Park: Bring a picnic and enjoy local bands Mr Q, Ausphonics and Amanda Sempf playing live music in the park. Stalls are still available for people who only want to be there on Saturday.
  • Taromeo Rural Fire Brigade Kids Central: Free children’s activities and entertainment at the top of the rail trail including Dreamtime Reptiles, the Kangagang Show and appearances by Blazer The Bear.
  • At the Roy Emerson Museum and Nukku Nook, poets will recite their poems; there’ll also be a mystery object competition and guided butterfly walks from the museum throughout the day.
  • Next to the Roy Emerson Museum will be vintage machinery displays and stalls.
  • An International Food Court will be located across the trail, with the Avocado Roll competition next door offering total cash prizes of $1500 to the winners
  • Along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail there will be market stalls leading to the showgrounds, where there will be carving demonstrations by Shane Christensen and wood chop activities next to the Woodcutters Bar and Bistro.
  • An Orchid and Foliage Show will feature guest speakers talking all things green thumb, right next to the Hand Made in South Burnett Pavilion.
  • The feature venue is the (soon to be moved) Blackbutt Memorial Hall with the Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Avocado Expo, where chef Jason Ford will be preparing fantastic avocado recipes all day. Come along and taste what makes Blackbutt Avocados bloomin’ beautiful!
  • A Giant Street Parade will head off down the highway from the Memorial Hall to the Showgrounds at 1:00pm, and the highway will be closed for 30 minutes to allow it to pass

Then it is back to the hall for the official launch of the Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt and Benarkin song written by the kids of the community and Josh Arnold.

This will followed by a kids concert with Topology.

A photographic exhibition will also be at the hall for visitors to view while enjoying a sumptuous Devonshire tea prepared by the ladies from the CWA.

Then on Saturday night, “Tunes From The Tube” with Topology and the Kransky Sisters will take centre stage at 7:30pm.

Tickets to this show are just $20, but only 150 will be sold and there may not any left to buy at the door on the night.

So if you want to see this remarkable concert, you should book online or collect them in person from Blackbutt Hardware or the Blackbutt Medical Centre.
