The Goomeri Showgrounds will be packed with horses and riders this weekend.

District 2 of the National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) will be hosting the 2016 NBHA State Show at the Showgrounds on August 20-21.

The State Show offers NBHA members the chance to win buckles and prizes, as well as the chance to win one of eight “Wildcards”.

These cards never expire and give the winners a free Qualified run at the NBHA Open and Youth Worlds at Perry, Georgia in the USA.

The NBHA has districts all over the east coast of Queensland and one in the Riverina district of NSW.

Each district holds regular competitions over many rounds, with each district member vying for points that count towards end of year prizes.

The State Show gives members a chance to get together and compete against some of the best horses in the sport.

Each member has already had to qualify to run at this event by attending and competing in three rounds.

The NBHA welcomes riders of all stages, and the group encourages members to improve and enjoy one of the fastest growing horse sports.

A barbeque will be available on Friday night for anyone who wants to support the Goomeri Show Society.

And everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the action over the weekend, which will run from 10:00am both days with the final round held on Sunday.
