A family-owned Goomeri business has won a prestigious Queensland award for the second year in a row.

James Giles Plumbing Pty Ltd won the QGA Commercial And Industrial Gas Installation Of The Year Award for installing a large LPG gas system for an Emerald citrus company.

The company was announced the winner at the 2016 Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards, which were held last Friday at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane.

Head of Gas Department Justin Giles said James Giles Plumbing was approached by the Emerald citrus company 2PH Citrus to design, install and commission both a gas system and gas-fired drying system to suit their production needs.

The solution the Goomeri firm provided was designed to be highly energy efficient, but also easy to maintain.

The awards night was hosted by the Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland and major event sponsor Tradelink.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Mick de Brenni said it was great to see the local plumbing and gas industry receiving state-wide recognition.

“James Giles Plumbing took the award for their state-of-the-art drying conveyer built in Emerald, providing their client with a highly efficient automated burner control system allowing large volumes of product to be handled quickly and efficiently.”

Agriculture Minister Leanne Donaldson also congratulated the company for its awards night success.

“James Giles Plumbing’s innovative solution is helping Queensland citrus growers export top-quality products around Australia and the world,” she said.

“The company is also doing its part to create jobs for Queenslanders and train the next generation of plumbers and gasfitters.”

The Plumbing and Gas Industry Awards aim to highlight the hard work and dedication invested into the industry by apprentices, plumbers, gasfitters, hydraulic consultants and other industry individuals.

Justin Giles also won the Tarong Power Stations Young Business Leader Award at the South Burnett Business Awards in October last year.
