There was a lot of show and almost too much (sun)shine at the South Burnett Car Club’s annual Show, Shine and Swap Meet at Nanango on Sunday.

The grounds around Fred Kassulke Oval were filled with everything from Honda Goldwing touring bikes and a “tank” Fairlane to hot rods, street machines and American muscle.

Members from other local car clubs, including the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers and the Blackbutt Car Club, also had vehicles on show as well as individual car enthusiasts from much further afield.

Despite the large number of events on in the South Burnett over the weekend, the show enjoyed strong support, not just from entries in the various competitions but also from the many visitors through the gate and the sponsors who supported the prizes.

Motors In Motion Inc president Kevin Krosch – who had his bright blue V8 modified Capri on display – was taking the opportunity to spread the word amongst car enthusiasts about the upcoming Wondai Street Sprints on June 11-12, which will be the next major automotive event on the South Burnett events calendar.

Kevin said almost 100 entries had been received and the new bitumen track which had been laid around the Wondai Industrial Estate was now the “best in Queensland”.

A special guest on the weekend will be top motoring writer and motor racing commentator Will Hagon.

The sprints will be accompanied by a show and shine which will be held across the road in the soccer grounds.

Then on the first weekend in July, the South Burnett Gas Guzzlers Club will be holding their annual “Raising Hell In Maidenwell” event on the Maidenwell Oval.
