Murgon’s Castra facility has received funding to provide more on-site parking for visitors

April 14, 2016

Castra Residential Aged Care Facility in Murgon will receive $14,157 from the Federal Government to provide extra car parking under the Stronger Communities Program.

“Due to limited on-site parking, visitors to Castra often have no option but to park out on the street,” Member for Wide Nay Warren Truss said.

“This funding will enable Castra to extend the parking within their grounds, allowing easier access for family, friends, volunteers and school children who frequently visit residents.

“The project will receive matching funding by the owners of the facility, Southern Cross Care Queensland.

The Stronger Communities Program is an initiative designed to increase the resilience of communities, especially those in disadvantaged areas, by providing grants for small capital projects.

Local councils and incorporated not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of between $5000 and $20,000, with up to $150,000 available for each Federal electorate per year.

Applications for the Round 2 of the program recently closed and are now being assessed.
