Police have received no reports about a dog-fighting ring allegedly operating in the South Burnett area.

Comments have been circulating on social media warning people to beware of a matte black Commodore, a “champagne”-coloured stationwagon, a white ute with a dog cage, a grey van and a small grey Mitsubishi Mirage suspected to be “casing” homes to steal dogs.

The social media rumours say the people in these vehicles have been drugging dogs and then dragging them by rope over fences.

However, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, from Kingaroy Police, said he knew nothing about the claims and nothing had been reported to police.

The social media posts, which have been widely shared, also claim that a shipping container in Yarraman is being used to host dog fights.

Anyone with any information about dog thefts or dog fights should call Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
