A delegation from Gympie Regional Council inspected parts of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail last week to help gather ideas for the northern half of the Kingaroy to Kilkivan trail.

Cr Ray Currie and Manager, Planning Strategy & Major Projects Chris Engle inspected sections of the trail between Blackbutt and Moore.

They were accompanied by two Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Ambassadors whom Cr Currie would have known well from his days as Kilkivan Shire Council CEO: former Nanango Shire Mayor Reg McCallum and Nanango Shire Deputy CEO Kerry Mercer, who acted as guides for the fact-finding trip.

Gympie Regional Council is responsible for the rail trail from just north of Murgon to Kilkivan, where rail trail users could then link up with the Bicentennial National Trail.
