Triumphant Murgon U18s in 2015 … next year the South Burnett will have the opportunity to field two u18s teams in the Toowoomba competition

November 24, 2015

Two South Burnett U18s teams have been offered slots in the Toowoomba competition for 2016.

South Burnett Rugby League secretary Lisa Weir announced on Tuesday that South Burnett White (made up from Nanango/Kingaroy/Wondai players) and South Burnett Blue (Murgon/Cherbourg/Central Burnett) had been accepted into the competition.

All players will also be signed up with their own clubs, which will also allow them to play in the South Burnett seniors competition, if required.

“One stipulation for the competition is that we need to have and maintain a minimum of 25 players for each team for the entire season,” Lisa said.

“Please get your nominations to me no later than January 12 so we can show Toowoomba our commitment.”

Nominations are also open for coaches, managers and first aid officers.

“Representative football will still be with Wide Bay and not Toowoomba,” Lisa said.

The Toowoomba competition will consist of 14 teams with 23 games plus a four-week finals series.

Fixture games will be played either Saturday or Sunday with a possible Friday night game (this is to be determined) to fit in best with senior fixtures and referees in Toowoomba.

The starting date is March 13, with the grand final to be played on September 18.
