Staff and students from TAFE Queensland South West recently banded together to raise almost $2500 for Buy a Bale to support farmers in need.

TAFE Queensland South West General Manager Trevor Schwenke said supporting drought-affected farmers and rural communities was “close to our hearts”.

“It’s our region, our area, our staff and students and their communities that are affected by drought,” Mr Schwenke said.

“Our staff and students wanted to do something to help our community, so each of our 10 locations, from Ipswich to Roma, Warwick to Kingaroy, got involved in some way.”

In Kingaroy, money was primarily raised through a raffle with the main prize on offer a Queensland Maroons jersey and football signed by Shane Webcke, and also various Melbourne Cup activities.
